BigBoards won the audience vote during the Startup Showcase at Strata + Hadoop World – London 2015, the leading Big Data event of the year. Together with other impressive technological startups, BigBoards could present itselve to a professional jury and the audience.
At Strata + Hadoop World in London from 5 to 7 May 2015, O’Reilly hosted a showcase of some of the most innovative big data startups. The judges narrowed the field to 10 finalists, who could present their product to the judges and the audience during short short 5-minute demos. The professional jury picked 3 winners while the attendees voted for their audience choice.
BigBoard’s flagship product is our hexagonal cluster, the Hex, which allows you to install Big Data technologies in just a few minutes. The Hex is a true Big Data solution packaged as a micro datacenter with 6 servers. You immediately employ parallel and distributed systems. It allows companies, who take their first steps towards Big Data and Data Science, to experiment with multiple technologies at an excruciating pace … without investing in infrastructure.
BigBoards was incorporated mid 2014. In the meantime, the Tint library to provision the Hexes encompasses multiple open-source technologies. BigBoards also collaborates with prominent players in the Big Data landscape like Intel, Elastic (formerly ElasticSearch), Cisco, Canonical (makers of Ubuntu), Pivotal and Skylable.
“We are very proud to receive this recognition and massively thank the audience for their support. We never expected this international attention. We were rather focused on developers and data scientists in Belgium, but, recent deals with the Australian ministry of defense, the famous German Fraunhofer research institute and some high-tech Data Science start-ups in New York, force us to broaden our horizon. We face a series A funding for which we talk to various venture capitalists”, says the management of BigBoards.
