California, a longtime leader in protecting all animals, is now poised to be the first state to do away with the archaic and abusive training methods that traveling shows and circuses use on elephants, Nicole Paquette, the Humane Societys vice president of wildlife protection, said in a statement

These animals are ticking time bombs waiting to explode, said Nicole Paquette, vice president of wildlife for the Humane Society of the United States. Its completely irresponsible to allow someone to go into the enclosure with a dangerous wild animal.
